The figure shows a charge q placed inside a cavity in an uncharged conductor. Now if an external electric field is switched on –
(a) only induced charge on outer surface will redistribute
(b) only induced charge on inner surface will redistribute
(c) both induced charge on outer and inner surface will redistribute
(d) force on charge q placed inside the cavity will change

Correct option will be A

The distribution / conveyance of charge on the external surface, depends just on the charges outside and it will distribute itself i.e. that the net, electric field inside the external surface because of the charge on external surface and all the external charges is zero. Additionally the distribution of charge on the inward surface, depends just on the charges inside the internal surface, and it disseminates itself such that the net, electric field outside the inward surface because of the charge on inward surface and all the internal charges is zero. Additionally the power on charge inside the cavity is because of the charge on the internal surface.
