The capital of Maharashtra, Mumbai, was the first city to get its municipal corporation in 1888.
The corporation was named as Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). It is also deemed to be the most richest municipal body in India owing to the plethora of rich businessmen and bollywood stars living in this particular region.
There are total 227 Seats in this corporation out if which 91 seats is occupied by the Shiv Sena group, 83 by the BJP and the remaining by other local parties.
