the first member of alkane has one carbon atom but there is no alkene with single carbon atom. why?

Answer:

If an alkene has one carbon atom then, then one H atom must be bonded with the carbon atom by double bonds......

Since a hydrogen atom cannot make a double bonds ...... so a member of alkene series cannot have 1 carbon atom......

Similarly, a member of alkyne series cannot have 1 carbon atom......
