Hey Dear,

(a) Photochemical decomposition -

  • A single compound is decomposed into simple substances in presence of light.
  • Colour of salt changes from white to grey.

(b) Chemical equation -

  • Photochemical decomposition of silver chloride gives silver metal with chlorine gas.

2AgCl --> 2Ag + Cl2

(c) Commercial use of silver chloride -

  1. Electrode in electrochemical cell
  2. Screen in black & white photography
  3. Antidote for mercury poisoning
