By using Pythagoras theorem
In ∆ ABD
→ BD² + AD² = AB²
→ BD² + 8² = 10²
→ BD² = 100 - 64
→ BD = √36
→ BD = 6 cm
In ∆ ADC
★ DC² + AD² = AC²
→ DC² + 8² = 17²
→ DC² = 289 - 64
→ DC = √225
→ DC = 15 cm
★ BC = BD + DC
→ BC = 6 + 15
→ BC = 21 cm
