The foot of an elephant has an area of 275 cm2 . If the mass of the elephant is 2200 kg, find the pressure exerted by the elephant on the ground.

Given that : The foot of an elephant has an area of 275cm²

( As we know that : 1m = 100cm => 1 cm = 1/100m )

275cm² = 275/10000 = 0.0275 m²

As we also know that elephant has four feet

then, total area = 4×0.0275 = 0.11 m²

Also given that : Force = 22000 N

Then, Pressure = Force / Area

=> Pressure = 22000/0.11 N/m²

=> Pressure = 200000 N/m² or 200000 Pascal
