TRACHEA (WINDPIPE)

Trachea is long, muscular tube extending from the larynx in the neck to bronchi in the thoracic cavity. The front opening of trachea called glottis is guarded by a muscular flap called epiglottis. The epiglottis closes the trachea at the time of swallowing of food.
