supu76: give exact reason
veerji92013: Carbon monoxide is prepared by gently heating commercial oxalic acid in a round bottom flask with an excess of concentrated sulfuric acid. The sulfuric acid exerts a dehydrating action and a mixture of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide is evolved. The obtained gases are passed through potassium or sodium hydroxide solution which absorbs the carbon dioxide. Additionally obtained carbon monoxide is dried by passing through concentrated sulfuric acid.
