these inlets are present so that sufficient amount of oxygen will get the gas to burn

Both the gas stoves and the kerosene stoves have inlets for Air because ,

The oxygen present in the air is needed for complete combustion and it produces the blue flame which signifies the fuel is completely combusting and this flame is the most fuel efficient and time saving flame for cooking purpose.

When the flame is yellow from it means that inletss of air are blocked or somehow damaged, so the air's oxygen is not able to reach the combustion site.
