Step-by-step explanation:

This sequence is G.P (i.e. GEOMETRIC PROGRESSION).

In a G.P the next number is obtained by multiplying the previous number by a common number which is known as common ratio and is represented by r.

So following are the examples of G.P:

3, 12, 48, 192………..(First term—a =3, Common Ratio—- r = 4)

2, 10, 50, 250……..(First term—a =2, Common Ratio— r = 5)

12, 96, 768, 6144……(First term—a =3, Common Ratio— r = 8)

Any term can be calculated by using the formula:

tn = a rn- 1.

So in the given question i.e. 1, 2, 4, 8 the next term is obtained on multiplying 8 by 2 .

So the answer is 16.

Geometric Progression is the mother of all process where “Any Cyclic process or a Cyclic Pattern is involved like in “Compound interest”.

I hope it helps to you
