The german scientist proved that the earth and other planets move around the sun not in a circle but in elliptical orbits was Johannes Kepler.

Kepler is the famous German astronomer known for giving kepler's three law regarding planet's motions, which are:

1) The planet's move around the sun in an elliptical path with the sun as one foci.

2) A radius vector joining any planet to sun sweeps out equal area in equal interval of time.

3) The squares of the periods of revolution of the planets is directly proportional to the cubes of their mean distance from the sun.

Thanks for the question!

It is definitely a very interesting question to solve and do some brainstorming.

The German astronomer Johannes Kepler’s laws of planetary motion in astronomy and  physics, laws explaining the motions of the planets in the solar system. He proved that  planets move about the Sun in elliptical orbits, having the Sun as one of the focal point.

Kepler's laws improved the model of Copernicus.

The laws are:----

(1) All planets move about the Sun in elliptical orbits, having the Sun as one of the foci.

(2) A radius vector joining any planet to the Sun sweeps out equal areas in equal lengths of time.

(3) The squares of the sidereal periods (of revolution) of the planets are directly proportional to the cubes of their mean distances from the Sun.
