Thus, Length of BC is 5cm and area of trapezium is 26cm^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

ABCD is a trapezium where AB=5cm , AD=4cm and CD=8cm

From figure,

AD=BE=4cm , AB=DE=5cm

CE=CD-DE

CE=(8-5)=3cm

From,

\triangle BCE,

BC =\sqrt{CE^{2}+BE^{2}  }

BC =\sqrt{3^{2}+4^{2}  }

BC=5cm

We know,

Area of trapezium=\frac{AB+CD}{2}\times BE

=\frac{5+8}{2}\times 4

=13\times 2

=26cm^{2}

∴ Length of BC is 5cm and area of trapezium is 26cm^{2}
