Question:

What is the relation between exercise and carbohydrate consumption?

Answer:

Exercise leads to increased carbohydrate consumption as the muscle cells need enough ATP and oxygen for proper functioning. ATP is derived from carbohydrates via aerobic respiration. Excessive exercise might leads to anaerobic respiration which forms lactic acid.

Explanation:

Carbohydrates are an important source of energy  during exercise. During short periods of heavy load, it becomes the sole source of energy for working muscles, derived only  from  glycogen stores in the muscle fibers themselves. it is dependent on many factors, including

(1)  intensity of  exercise

(2)  duration of  exercise

(3) condition or type of exercise in which the individual has participated. , or both

(4)  previously consumed meals.

Understanding the dynamics of carbohydrate metabolism is  important  knowledge for coaches and athletes, as the body has limited stores and these stores can be manipulated relatively easily through a combination of diet and exercise.
