For a polynomial, the graph obtained will be parabolic curve.

If it touches the x-axis at only one point then it has 2 equal roots.

D = b² - 4ac = 0

And if it touches the x-axis at 2 different points, then it has 2 distinct roots.

D = b² - 4ac > 0
