Let the distance be 1m. [You can assume the distance to be any value...it doesn't matter in this question]

Original Force F1 = G×m1×m2/1²

= G×m1×m2

Therefore [G×m1×m2] = 4N [given].....(i)

Now...the distance(r) is reduced to half...

New Force F2 = G×m1×m2/(1/2)²

= G×m1×m2/(1/4)

= 4[G×m1×m2]

From equation (i)...[G×m1×m2] = 4N

Hence, the gravitational force = 4×(4)

= 16N
