It is due to the chloroplasts present in the leaves. It has a pigment called the chlorophyll and absorbs two types of light – deep blue and red, but does not absorb green light due to reflection of this color plants looks green in color. Chlorophyll is a natural pigment which takes energy from the sunlight and converts carbon-di-oxide and water into chemical energy. The chemical energy will be in the form of glucose and natural sugar which helps the plant to grow.
