Answer:

a) The uprising of 1857 was the first struggle of the Indian people for freedom from British imperialism. It paved the way for the rise of national movement. The sacrifices made by revolutionaries like Rani Laxmi Bai, Nana Saheb and Mangal Pandey etc. served as a source of inspiration for the future freedom fighters. The heroic struggle also established valuable traditions of resistance to the British rule.

b) More Britishers worked in the government as well as private sectors in India and took away huge amount of money. India was one of the major colonies of the Britishers to purchase cheap raw materials and to sell their finished goods. Peasants became poor as they were forced to pay land revenue. Britishers invested in industries which brought profits to them like plantation, railways, jute mills, etc.

c) i) The British rulers declared their policy of non-interference in the religious affairs, customs and traditions of the Indians.

ii) The Policy of Annexation and the Doctrine of Lapse were abandoned. Some Indian princes had shown their loyalty to the British during the uprising. They were rewarded with the announcement that they would have the right to adopt an heir and there would be no future annexation of their territories.
