For third order reaction , n= 3 where nis overall order.
Now half life = 1/(initial conc )^ (n-1)
Half life = 1/(initial conc)^2
LHS = half life
= 1/4
RHS = 1/(initial conc)^2
= 1/(2)^2
= 1/4
Thus , LHS=RHS
So, the order of reaction is 3.
Hope it helps you.
