the hand and heart are referred to are symbolic representation f emotions if ozymindes the Egyptians king whose image was captured in now fallen sculpture .the traveller says that the sculpture reads the emotion of the ancient king well and reflected them in the facial expressions of the statue. thus the 'sneer of command ' that the face of statue depicts shows the passion that motivated the ruler's hearts and hands . just by looking at the facial expressions the traveller discrens that the king has hearts that mocked him .in other words he did not have kind and giving hands or hands that protected him . he reached his hands out in mockery , confirming to his subject that were worth little or nothing omparing to hus grandeur . like wise he has 'hearts that fed 'it was not a compassionate or loving heart but one that preyed on his people using them for his gain and to satisfy his own desire interestingly the parts of the statue that seem to be missing to be are the parts containing hearts and hands . the image is trunkless the head is trunkless the head is visible 'head sunk' and the legs are still standing . but the traveller is abke to explorate the missing pieces ,hearts and hands from the expression the sculpture carved into face.
