GIVEN

  • The HCF and LCM of two numbers are 17 & 1666 respectively

  • one of the numbers is 119

TO DETERMINE

The other number

CONCEPT TO BE IMPLEMENTED

The relation between HCF & LCM of two numbers are given by

HCF × LCM = Product of the numbers

EVALUATION

Here it is given that

HCF of two numbers are 17

LCM of two numbers are 1666

Now the relation between HCF & LCM of two numbers are given by

HCF × LCM = Product of the numbers

  \sf{17 \times 1666 = 119 \times Second \: number \: }

 \implies \displaystyle  \sf{ Second \: number \: =  \frac{17 \times 1666}{119}  }

 \implies \displaystyle  \sf{ Second \: number \: =  \frac{ 1666}{7}  }

 \implies \displaystyle  \sf{ Second \: number \: =238 }

Hence the Other number is 238

Given:

The HCF of two numbers = 17, The LCM of two numbers = 1666 and

One number = 119

Let x be the other number.

We have to find, the value of other number.

Solution:

We know that:

HCF × LCM = The product of two numbers

∴ 17 × 1666 = 119 × x

x=\dfrac{17\times 1666}{119}

x = 17 × 14

x = 238

The value of other number = 238

Thus, the value of "other number is equal to 238".
