3 {x}^{2}  - 2x - 1 = 3 {x}^{2}  + x - 3x - 1 \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  = x(3x  + 1) - 1(3x + 1) \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  = (x - 1)(3x + 1) \\  \\  \\ 3 {x}^{2}  - 5x - 2 = 3 {x}^{2}  - 6x + x - 2 \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  = 3x(x - 2) + 1(x -  2) \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: (3x + 1)(x - 2) \\  \\  \\  \\ common \: factor \: is \: (3x + 1)
