Dear student

Given :-

  • acceleration due to gravity = 1/4 Ge

To find :-

  • the value of height

Solution :-

Consider the straight forward relationship between radius and acceleration due gravity by the formula;

            gh = g R²/ ( R + h )²

So, from the given condition, we have;

       g/ 4 = g R² /( R + h )²

         1/4 = R²/ ( R + h )²

         1/2 = R / ( R + h )

     R + h = 2 R

           h = 2R - R

           h = R

           h = 6400 km
