given,

ratio of heights of plants = 2:3:5 = 2x:3x:5x

Mean of heights of three plants = 30cm

=>2x+3x+5x/3=30

=>10x=90

=>x=90/10=9cm

Height of A plant = 2x = 2×8 = 18cm

Height of B plant = 3×9 = 27cm

Height of C plant = 5×9 = 45cm

let the height of D plant be y

but given,

mean of four plants = 33cm

=>17+27+45+y/4 = 33

=>90+y/4 = 33

=>90+y = 132

=>y = 132- 90 = 42cm

The height of the D plant is 42cm
