angle of elevation = 30

h=200m                                           shadow =x

tan 30 = 200/x

1/√3 = 200/x                                     ∴x= 200√3

Answer:

The length of its shadow is 100\sqrt3\ m

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The height of tower is 200m. When the altitude of sun is 30°.

To find : The length of its shadow ?

Solution :

The situation is creating a triangle ABC,

Refer the attached figure below.

Let the height of the tower AB=100 m

The angle of elevation of the sun is \theta= 30^\circ

Let the length of the shadow be CB=x

In the triangle ABC,

Applying trigonometric property,

\tan\theta=\frac{AB}{CB}

\tan 30^\circ=\frac{100}{x}

\frac{1}{\sqrt3}=\frac{100}{x}

x=100\sqrt3

The length of its shadow is 100\sqrt3\ m
