therefore, x²+(x-1)²=5²

x²+x²-2x+1=25

2x²-2x-24=0

x²-x-12=0

now,factorise.

x²-4x+3x-12=0

x(x-4)+3(x-4)=0

(x+3)(x-4)=0

since distance can't be negative

therefore,

x=4.[one side]

x-1=3[other side]
