The 8th variety is 13.

Explanation:

Formula :

Mean = (Sum of observations) ÷ (Number of observations)   (i)

⇒Sum of observations = Mean x  (Number of observations)   (ii)

Given : The mean of 8 variates is 10.5. .

Then, by (ii)

Sum of 8 observations = 10.5 x 8 =84.

If seven of them are 3,15,7,19,2,17and 8 , then the sum of 7 observations  =  3+15+7+19+2+17+8 = 71

8th variety = Sum of 8 observations - sum of 7 observations

= 84 - 71 = 13

Hence, the 8th variety is 13.
