(short side)²+(third side)²=(hypotenuse)²
(x)²+(2x+1)²=(2x-1)²
x²+(2x)²+(1)²+2(2x)(1)=(2x)²+(1)²-2(2x)(1)
(2x)² &(1)² are cancelled on both sides
x²+4x+4x=0
x²+8x=0
x(x+8)=0
x=0 and x+8=0
x=0 and x=-8
