Let 8 cm be it's perpendicular
h^2=p^2 + b ^2
(17)^2= (8)^2 + b^2
289=64 + b^2
289-64=b^2
225 = b^2
root 225 = b
15 cm = b
So the length of another side is 15 cm

Answer:

15 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :Hypotenuse = 17 cm

           One side = 8 cm

To Find: Third side

Solution:

Since we are given the right angled triangle So, we will use Pythagorean theorem.

Hypotenuse^2=Perpendicular^2+Base^2

17^2=8^2+Base^2

289=64+Base^2

289-64=Base^2

225=Base^2

\sqrt{225}=Base

15=Base

Hence the third side is 15 cm
