1/f = 1/v - 1/u

1/v = 1/f + 1/u

1/v = 1/8 + 1/-24 = 1/12

  v = 12

Thus the image formed is 12 cm behind the lens

Therefore image formed will be real and inverted

m = v/u

m = 12/-24

m = 0.5

which implies the image formed is diminished
