The climate of the country is changing due to the lockdown implemented to prevent the corona virus outbreak. During this time, the level of pollution is continuously falling. According to environmentalists, there has been a decrease in pollution of Ganges and other rivers passing through West UP including Meerut since 22 March.
Environmentalists Girish Shukla, Dr. Yashwant Rai, Natural Sciences Trust President Priyank Bharti etc. say that industries polluting the Ganges are closed due to the lockdown. In the cities of West UP like Meerut, Baghpat, Bijnor, Aligarh, Muzaffarnagar, industrial waste is dumped in the rivers.
Hope this helps
