If there will be more variations in the species then it can also lead to evolution because there will be different types of varieties of an organism that can survive in the given situations. like extreme hot temperatures or extreme cold temperature.

For example there is a type of a bacteria which can only survive in a certain temperature when this bacteria will reproduce then there will be some variations and the offspring produced can even survive in the extreme hot temperature so this offspring will survive and the parent will I finally extinct, in such situations when the parent will not be able to survive hence this offspring will produce more organisms like it in the future hence it leads to evolution
