Let income of a be 3x and b be 2x
and according to the question their investment be 5y and 3y respectively.

ATQ........

3x - 5y = 1000 ......... (1)
2x - 3y =1000.......... (2)

x = [1000+3y]/ 2 (from eq 2)

putting the value of x in eq 1 we ge :-

3* [1000+3y]/2 - 5y = 1000

=> y = 1000

x =( 1000 + 3000 )/ 2
= 2000

income of b = 2x = 4000

Let income of a be 3x and b be 2x

and according to the question their investment be 5y and 3y respectively.

3x - 5y = 1500 ......... (1)

2x - 3y =1500.......... (2)

x = [1500+3y]/ 2 (from eq 2)

putting the value of x in eq 1 we get :-

3* [1500+3y]/2 - 5y = 1500

so y = 1500

x =  ( 1500 + 4500 ) / 2

= 3000

income of b = 6000
