Population is increasing at a rapid rate resulting in the increase in the needs of people like- water, shelter, transportation, food etc. Humans are directly or indirectly dependent on natural sources like coal, petroleum, wood etc. Most of these resources are exhaustible & non renewable. Also, they play an important role in maintaining the ecological balance.

For example:  we know that forests help in regulation of proper rainfall, they are the source of  shelter & food to many organisms but due to human activities such as deforestation, trees are cut down at a rapid pace which will result in lesser amount of rainfall. Thus,  resulting in the ecological disturbance.

Similarly, consumption of petrol, coal, etc. has increased to meet the transportation requirement which in turns creates lot of heat & pollution thus, effecting the climatic conditions.

Hence, we can say that increasing demands for the energy is adversely effecting our environment
