The intensity of reverberations is higher in a closed and empty house

In an empty hall there r no soft surfaces like matting curtains clothing etc. which effectively act as sound absorbent so sound has to face reflections again and again from hard surface walls ceiling and floor …this does not allow the sound to die for pretty good time and hence results in more reverberation.
