see first of all...ionization is the energy required to remove an electron from the outermost orbit to make it a positively charged particle.

so across the period the force of attraction increases and so more energy is required to remove the electron...so ionization increases across a period...and decreases down a group...and so the last group that is the 1st group has the lowest ionization....
