The
is presented in Britain
every two years currently by the Man group. The award
carries a cash prize of £ 60,000. Previously, only people
belonging to the Commonwealth countries, Zimbabwe
and Ireland were considered for the award. However, since
2014, the eligibility of the international prize was extended
and any writing in English language started being accepted.

An author can win the award only once. Some of the
famous winners of this international prize are V.S. Naipaul,
Arundhati Roy, Hilary Mantel, Aravind Adiga and Philip
Roth.

The Booker Prize is presented in Britain every two years by the Man group.

Though the award came into existence as late as 2005, it has become a prestigious global award.

Though initially the entries were restricted to people from a few nations, it has now been opened up to writers across the world. The nationality of the author does not matter. The important criteria is that the literary work should be in English. Even a translated version qualifies to be considered for the award.

The panel of judges work independently, scrutinizing many entries and finally selecting one that goes on to win a handsome cash prize and immense recognition. This prize can only be won by authors who are still alive.
