momentum will change by 5 %

ashisingh65289: if kinetic energy change is 2.5%...then the %age change in linear momentum
harsh3374chauhan: √2.5%
ashisingh65289: ok..thanks

Hey dear,

◆ Answer-
∆p/p = 12.5 %

◆ Explanation-
# Given-
∆KE/KE = 25 %

# Solution-
Let m be the mass of the object and v be initial velocity.

Kinetic energy is given -
KE = 1/2 mv^2
As p = mv,
KE = p^2 / 2m

Differentiating both sides, we get -
∆KE/KE × 100 = 2 ∆p/p × 100
∆p/p × 100 = 1/2 × ∆KE/KE × 100
∆p/p × 100 = 1/2 × 25 % × 100
∆p/p × 100 = 12.5

Change in momentum will be 12.5 %.

Hope this helps you...
