Krishna Raja Sagara Dam in Karnataka was named after the Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV (1894-1940)--the Maharaja of the kingdom of Mysore during the British rule in India.
Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV was one of the great maharajahs of Mysore. He was the philosopher king and was compared to Asoka. He was called "Rajashiri" or saintly king by M K Gandhi and was even praised by the Britishers.
His reign has been described as Ram Rajya.
