We know that,

y = 135/ x...(2)
Substituting 2 in 1:
x + 135/x = 24
x² + 135 - 24 x = 0
Thus x= 15 or 9
Thus y = 9 or 15
Thus the numbers are 9, 15
Their difference is 6
