The required HCF = 50

Given :

  • LCM of two number is 9 times their HCF
  • The sum of LCM and HCF is 500

To find :

The HCF

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Form the equation

Here it is given that LCM of two number is 9 times their HCF

Let HCF = x

Then LCM = 9x

The sum of LCM and HCF is 500

So by the given condition

9x + x = 500

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the HCF

9x + x = 500

⇒ 10x = 500

⇒ x = 500/10

⇒ x = 50

Hence the required HCF = 50
