Given : buckets of capacity 12 litres, 16 litres and 24 litres

To Find : least quantity of of milk which can be exactly measured by buckets

Solution:

to find least quantity of of milk which can be exactly measured by buckets

LCM of 12 , 16 and 24 need to be find

LCM - Meast common Multiplier

12 = 2 * 2 * 3

16 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2

24 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 3

LCM = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 3

= 48

least quantity of of milk which can be exactly measured by buckets of capacity 12 litres, 16 litres and 24 litres is  48 litre

from the given option 96 litre is the least value that can be measured

Solution :-

given that,

→ Capacity of bucket 1 = 12 litres

→ Capacity of bucket 2 = 16 litres

→ Capacity of bucket 3 = 24 litres

So, in order to find the least quantity of of milk which can be exactly measured we need to find the LCM of Capacity of all three buckets .

then, Prime factors of 12, 16 and 24 are :-

→ 12 = 2 * 2 * 3

→ 16 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2

→ 24 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 3

therefore,

→ LCM = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 = 48 .

So, he least quantity of of milk which can be exactly96 measured by buckets is equal to 48 litres .

Since in given options 48 litres is not given , we will look for least multiples of 48 .

→ 96 = 48 * 2

→ 112 = Not a multiple of 48.

→ 24 = Not a multiple of 48.

→ 192 = 48 * 4 = A multiple of 48 but not least .

Hence, the least quantity of milk which can be exactly measured by buckets of given capacities from options is equal to 96 litres .
