let length be x and bredth be y

2(x+y) = 84

2x + 2y = 84

x + y = 42..................(1)

x = y + 8

x - y = 8.....................(2)

solving 1 and 2

x + y = 42

x - y = 8

-------------

2y. = 34

y. = 17

then from eq2 x = 42- 17 = 25

therefore length = 25 cm and bredth= 17 cm

Given :-

  • The lenght of a rectangle is 8 more than its breadth.if the perimeter of the rectangle is 84 cm.

To find :-

  • Dimensions of rectangle

Solution :-

★ Let the breadth be x then its length be (x + 8)

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 84 cm

According to Question

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)

→ 84 = 2[(x + 8) + x]

→ 84 = 2[x + 8 + x]

→ 84 = 2[2x + 8]

→ 84 = 4x + 16

→ 4x = 84 - 16

→ 4x = 68

→ x = 68/4 = 17

Hence,

  • Breadth of rectangle = x = 17cm
  • Length of rectangle = (x + 8) = 25
