Let the length of the rectangle be x and the breadth be y respectively.

By condition,

x=2y

(or) x-2y=0....(i)

perimeter=2(x+y)

72=2x+2y...(ii)

Adding (i) and (ii) , we get,

3x=72

x=24

on substituting x=24 in (i),

24-2y=0

2y=24

y=12

hence the length of rectangle is 24 and breadth of rectangle is 12.
