Answer:

length = 41

breadth=43

Solution: Let length be x and breadth be x+2 (Where length/x is odd. So, to make breadth also odd we need to add 2 in x as it is consecutive.)

A/q Perimeter of a rectangle=2(L+B)

168 = 2(x+x+2)

168/2 = x+x+2

84 - 2=2x

82/2 =x

41 =x

Hence, length = x =41

And breadth= x+2 = 41+2 = 43.

Given:

  • The length & breadth of the rectangle are consecutive odd integers.
  • Perimeter of the rectangle is 168cm.

To Find:

  • Length & Breadth.

Solution:

Let us take the length to be "n", where "n" is an odd number.

⇒ The breadth will be n + 2

Perimeter of the rectangle = 168cm.

⇔ 2(l + b) = 168

⇔ 2l + 2b = 168

⇔ 2(n) + 2(n + 2) = 168

⇔ 2n + 2n + 4 = 168

⇔ 4n + 4 = 168

⇔ 4n = 168 - 4

⇔ 4n = 164

⇔ n = 164/4

n = 41

Length = n = 41cm.

Breadth = n + 2 = 41 + 2 = 43cm.

Final answers:

Length = 41cm.

Breadth = 43cm.
