Answer:

  • Length = 40 metres
  • Breadth = 24 metres

Explanation:

Given,

Ratio of length and breadth of a rectangle is 5 : 3

And its perimeter is 128 metres

We need to find the dimensions of the rectangle.

Lets take the common ratio as x

Then,

  • Length = 5x
  • Breadth = 3x

Now,

We know,

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(l + b)

Where

  • l is length
  • And, b is breadth

Then,

= 2(5x + 3x)

But, the perimeter given is 128 metres

According to the question,

⇒ 128 = 2(5x + 3x)

⇒ 128 = 2(8x)

⇒ 128 = 16x

⇒ 128 /16 = x

⇒ 8 = x

Hence, the dimensions are :-

  • Length = 5x = 5(8) = 40 metres
  • Breadth = 3x = 3(8) = 24 metres
