Solution:-
Given : Length and breadth of a rectangular field are in the ratio of 2 : 5.
So, length = 2x and breadth = 5x respectively.
Area of the rectangular field = 5290 sq m
Area of rectangle = L × B
5290 = 2x × 5x
10x² = 5290
x² = 5290/10
x² = 529
x = √529
x = 23 m
So, length of the field = 23 × 2 = 46 m and breadth = 23 × 5 = 115 m
Now,
Perimeter of the rectangular field = 2(L + B)
= 2(23 + 115)
= 2 × 138
Perimeter of the field = 276 m
Cost of fencing = Rs. 40 per meter.
Total cost of fencing = 276 × 40
= Rs. 11040
