Step-by-step explanation:

given

length of hall = 40m

breadth of hall = 18m

length of tile = 1m

breadth of tile = 50cm

find

no. of tiles cover the hall

solution

area of rectangle = lenght × breadth

areas of rectangular hall = 40 × 18 = 720 sq.m

are of tile = 100×50 = 5000 sq. cm ( 1m = 100 cm)

= 50 sq. m

we want no. of tiles

so area of hall ÷ area of tiles

720 ÷ 50

= 14.4 tiles

hence

we want 14.4 tiles
