Let the length be 5x and breadth be 3x.
Perimeter of the rectangle is 9600/24 = 400 metres.
And perimeter = 2(l+b) = 400
And this implies l+b = 200 m
And this implies 5x + 3x = 200
Which implies 8x = 200 nad x = 25.
There length = 5x = 5*25 = 125 metres
And breadth = 3x = 3*25 = 75 metres.

Given :-

  • The length and breadth of a rectangular piece of land are in the ratio of 5:3.

  • Total cost of fencing it at ₹24 per metre is ₹9600.

To Find :-

  • Length and Breadth.

Solution :-

Let,

  • Length = 5x.

  • Breadth = 3x.

Perimeter :-

➛ Total Cost/Cost per metre.

➛ 9600/24.

➛ 400.

Now, Formula Of Perimeter :- 2(l + b).

➛ 2(l + b) = 400.

➛ 2(5x + 3x) = 400.

➛ 2(8x) = 400.

➛ 16x = 400.

➛ x = 400 ÷ 16.

➛ x = 25.

Calculating Dimensions,

  • Breadth = 5x = 125 metres.

  • Length = 3x = 75 metres.
