The length and breadth of a rectangle sheet of a paper are 88 cm and 21 cm. it is rolled along its length and a cylinder is formed.
We have to find the total surface area of cylinder.
a/c to question,
rectangular sheet of paper is rolled along its length.
∴ circumstance of base of formed cylinder = length of rectangular sheet
⇒2πR = 88 cm ...(1)
⇒2 × 22/7 × R = 88 cm
⇒R = (88 × 7)/44 = 14 cm
hence, the radius of cylinder , R = 14 cm
now total area of cylinder = lateral surface area of cylinder + 2 × cross sectional area
= (2πR)h + 2 × πR²
here, h = breadth of rectangular sheet = 21 cm
from equation (1), 2πR = 88 cm
= 88 cm × 21 cm + 2 × 22/7 × 14 × 14 cm²
= 1848 cm² + 1232 cm²
= 3080 cm²
Therefore the total surface area of cylinder is 3080 cm².
