The length and width of a rectangle is in the ratio 3 : 5. If its perimeter is 48 cm, find its length and width.

Let length & breadth be 3x and 5x

⇒ Perimeter = 2(l + b)

⇒ 48 = 2(3x + 5x)

⇒ 48 = 2 × 8x

⇒ x = 3

• Length = 3x = 3(3) = 9 cm

• Breadth = 5x = 5(3) = 15 cm
